Title: "Symbolic accessibility" Symbolic public space and culture on the outskirts of Barcelona. The case of Bon Pastor (Barcelona)
Author: Remesar, Antoni; Vergel, Javier
Abstract: The article discusses the ongoing experience in Barcelona's Bon Pastor district. An experience of citizen participation that aims to capture in the public space the civic memory of the neighbourhood. A co-management experience between the neighbours, the University, the District of Sant Andreu and the MUHBA (Museum of History of the City)with the creation of a space-museum focused on popular housing. Once the policies of the Barcelona City Council for improving the accessibility of people to their residence, public space and public transport are described, they are analysed the new emerging rights that suggest we cannot exclusively consider 'People's autonomy' from the individual dimension. Citizens, through existing participatory channels or new channels that can be opened, they have the right to actively participate in the proposals and projects for the built environment linked to their daily life, from a co-production and co-design perspective i.e. in 'bottom-up' processes. For this reason, the article calls for an extension of the concepts of accessibility to the symbolic dimensions of the public space that contributes to a better design for people. Certainly, understanding that this claim is only possible at a time when the social structure is or is on track to overcome the problems of physical accessibility. The article concludes that this expansion of the concept and the tools necessary to do so can contribute effectively against the processes of social exclusion.

Title: Powdered Cellulose Microblasting for Dry Cleaning Printed Works on Paper.
Author: Bautista-Morenilla, Iris; Ruiz Recasens, Cristina; Campo, Gema
Abstract:
This study evaluates the practical feasibility of using powdered cellulose microblasting for dry cleaning paper-based printed artworks in a real setting of conservation treatment. The control parameters used for this purpose are the potential morphological changes in the surface, the level of cleanliness achieved, and the amount of residue remaining in the artwork after the treatment. In this study, cleaning of a lithography was conducted entirely with powdered cellulose microblasting. The outcomes were evaluated before and after treatment using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry. The results indicate that powdered cellulose microblasting is a feasible and efficient technique for conducting the dry cleaning of printed works on paper without causing morphological changes to their surface. Additionally, it offers significant benefits by enabling precise treatment control, reducing cleaning time, and using materials stable in the long term and compatible with the substrate. Moreover, it mitigates the long-term negative effects caused by synthetic polymer residues from the cleaning materials commonly used in the dry cleaning of paper.

Title: Artwork imaging from 370 nm to 1630 nm using a novel multispectral system based on LEDs
Author: Herrera-Ramírez, Jorge; Vilaseca, Meritxell; Burgos, Francisco J.; Font, Lídia; Senserrich, Rosa; Pujol, Jaume
Abstract: The recent use of multispectral systems as a noncontact method for analysis of artworks has already shown promising results. This study explains the application of a novel portable multispectral system based on light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for artwork imaging. This method provides spectral information in a spectral range from 370 to 1630 nm with a 25 cm × 25 cm field of view by using two different image sensors in synchrony with 23 bands of irradiation. The spectral information for each point is estimated and validated using the pseudo-inverse and spline interpolation methods for spectral estimation and three different evaluation metrics. The results of the metrics obtained with both estimation methods show a general good performance of the system over the whole spectral range. The experiments also showed that the selection of the training set for the pseudo-inverse estimation has a great influence in its performance, and thus, it defines whether or not the pseudo-inverse outperforms the spline interpolation method. The system is applied in situ to the study of Catalan art masterpieces, and the results demonstrate the potential of a cost-effective and versatile system using various off-the-shelf elements to reconstruct color information and to reveal features not previously identified. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Author: Doménech Carbó, María Teresa; Vázquez de Agredos-Pascual, Mar de Agredos-Pascual; Osete-Cortina, Laura; Doménech-Carbó, Antonio; Guasch-Ferré, Nuria; Vidal-Lorenzo, Cristina
Abstract: The pigments were important in the funerary customs of the ancient Maya. They could be introduced as an offering inside the tombs or burials, and were also used to wrap the dead bodies, as if it were a funeral shroud. In the tombs and burials of royalty and high social classes the use of pigments for this purpose is well documented, and physicochemical studies are focused on their identification. This scientific contribution shows the results obtained when analyzing two reddish pigmenting materials from the grave goods of the tomb 19 of the archaeological site of Rio Azul, (Guatemalan Department of Petén), using a multi-technique approach including microscopy, diffraction, spectroscopic, electrochemical and chromatographic techniques. The results have enabled the identification of the inorganic and organic materials composing these pigmenting materials found in a ceramic posthumous offering dish and further discussion mainly has been focused on the geological source of the inorganic materials and the possible origin of the organic matter accompanying these two pigmenting materials.

Title: Julia Schulz-Dornburg y Manel Risques, ¿Donde está Franco? Cuaderno de un viaje, Tres Hermanas
Author: Ricart Ulldemolins, Núria
Abstract: ¿Dónde está Franco?
