Així, diferents òrgans metabòlics i la secreció
[en]The level of environmental illumination is projected through the photosensitive retinal ganglion cells to the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which synchronized by the light, orchestrates the 24 hours rhythms by regulating different variables such as those related with metabolim. Interactions between the molecular circadian clock and the metabolism have been demostrated. Furthermore, the organs and hormones involved in metabolism show a circadian rhythm in their function and secretion. An example is the increase of the hepatic glucose production and cortisol and insulin secretion as anticipation to the activity phase. Therefore, chronodisruption -as it occurs due to light at night, sleep restriction or irregular schedules-, can lead to metabolic dysfunctions. Furthermore, the feeding schedule is also important. For example, there is a relationship between skipping breakfast, lunch or dinner, or eating them in wrong hours and an increased risk of developing obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The study of the relationship between circadian system and metabolism allows us to suggest some recommendations to the population and to highlight the importance of having regular schedules, sleeping without light at night and not skipping breakfast, lunch or dinner. The present work studies the circadian system and its effects on metabolism homeostasis as well as the relationship between chronodisruption and metabolic alterations. Finally, based on the results obtained, some recommendations are proposed to improve the health. |
