Cartografía urbana: conquista de una geografía global

Abstract

[esp] El arte público es un concepto amplio que adquiere con el tiempo una serie de transformaciones. En este constante interés por el entorno urbano conlleva a replantear los vínculos existentes entre la práctica cartográfica, espacio urbano y producción cultural. El siguiente proyecto toma lo anterior como punto de partida, para reflexionar sobre la ciudad en las diversas esferas como: espacio social, psicológico, económico, estructural o arquitectónico, a partir de la metodología de la cartografía, en el contexto de la ciudad de Barcelona. La cartografía como ejercicio presente en el arte contemporáneo se han derivado diversos discursos críticos, perspectivas u objetivos, algunos han implicado la participación ciudadana u otros concretamente planteados como representación e interpretación de la realidad. A través de una serie de aportaciones teóricas, filosóficas e históricas referentes a la cartografía, ésta se ha inscrito dentro de las posibles fórmulas de intervención urbana. En esta breve investigación nos interesa específicamente vincular la práctica artística cartográfica del imaginario como forma de lectura urbana relacionada con la intervención en el espacio público, lo cual aporta una coherencia y significado en el discurso conceptual de la obra que se planteará a continuación, siempre cuestinándonos:¿cómo se ha planteado la cartografía en los discursos del arte?, ¿como se ha reinterpretado el concepto cartográfico fuera del contexto de las ciencias exactas?, ¿qué implicación tiene la intervención del arte contemporáneo en el espacio público?

[eng] Public art is a broad concept that acquires over time a series of transformations. This constant interest in the urban environment leads to a rethinking of the links between cartographic practice, urban space and cultural production.This project takes these issues as a starting point to reflect on the city various spheres such as: the social, psychological, economic, structural or architectural; from the methodology of cartography making in the context of the city of Barcelona .Cartography, as an exercise in contemporary art, has derived various critical discourses, perspectives or objectives, some have involved public participation or others have been specifically stated as representations and interpretations of reality. Through a series of theoretical, philosophical and historical contributions concerning cartography, there has been possible formulas for urban intervention. In this brief investigation we want to specifically link the artistic cartographic practice of the imaginary as a form of urban reading related to the intervention of public space, which brings coherence and meaning in the conceptual discourse of the work that will be described in the following essay. Some of the questions that will be addressed are: how has the cartographic practice been stated in the art discourse? how has the cartographic concept been reinterpreted outside the context of the exact sciences? What implications arise from the intervention of contemporary art in public space?
