(eng) The aim of this study is to understand the hispers’ habitus and the social origin of this urban movement. Based on a qualitative approach, the phenomenon is to be understood and studied towards a characteristic consumption, taste, and lifestyle model, thus assuming a Bourdian perpective. Hipsters can be defines as a modus vivendi and consumption model characterized by its individualism and its pursuit of uniqueness. Denying their self-identification as such —as hipsters— avoids possible group solidarity or recognition of their peers. At the same time, this invalidates the ability to analyze the group from the skeleton of an urban tribe, representing mostly a clean break with the classical model of counterculture. Finally, based on a thorough analysis of their behavior, we want to present the group as the crystallization of postmodern values and as a clear legitimizing agent of late capitalism. |
