[eng] To think about the folklore around fire in the context of Catalonia is to go back to its deepest roots in common with other European folkloric traditions. The balls de diables are one of the most representative icons of such Catalan folklore, and symbolize the rauxa (passion, festive craziness) as opposed to the seny (determination) which is characteristic of other Catalan traditions. Uncomfortable in terms of usually playing within a gray area in terms of regulations, streets are filled of small playful revolutions during festes majors (town festivities), in which people makes fun of those who have misbehaved, while reminding them of their fate, which is to burn on the Eternal Flame, where their sins will never be forgotten. With the project Vestint el Foc de Can Rosés (Dressing Can Rosés’ Fire) I aim at producing a series of new correfoc characters so that these can become part of the social imaginary at Les Corts neighbourhood in Barcelona. Although the project is developed in collaboration with the diables group Bocs de Can Rosés, as many other external associations and individual contributors as possible have been involved, thus creating synergies and bridges between them that would have not been possible otherwise. As a result, Bocs de Can Rosés have now two new showmates for Aegis, the fire beast in the group, and the neighbourhood has acquired two new correfoc figures inspired in its history.
