| Abstract: | Purpose: The aim of this research is to compare the application of the SA8000 standard in companies from Europe and Asia and identify the differences that may arise. Methodology: A content analysis has been carried out by analyzing the requirements of the SA8000 standard through six reports of companies from Italy, India and China, countries that lead the ranking of companies that have certified SA8000. Results: Findings show that there is a considerable difference as a result of the implementation of the standard, based on the information provided by each company in their annual reports. Contribution: This research contributes to enrich literature since the existing research focuses more on specific regions and not on comparing them. Furthermore, this paper will be useful for those organizations who implement the standard and their interested stakeholders. |
