La mentoria des de la perspectiva de la gestió de conflictes: cap a un enfocament restauratiu de l’acompanyament postpenitenciari de joves-adults

Abstract

Afavorir processos de desistiment del delicte i reintegració social requereix que l’infractor es responsabilitzi del seu propi procés de desistiment però, alhora, que la societat actuï per integrar-lo en tots els nivells de la vida (Braithwaite, 1989, citat a Cid i Larrauri, 2001, p.222). Orientada en aquest sentit, en els últims anys, la mentoria s’ha desenvolupat com una estratègia efectiva d’acompanyament postpenitenciari en l’àmbit de joves que pretén establir un pont entre la presó i la comunitat durant l’excarceració. La recerca que es presenta sorgeix de la manca de coneixement sobre els mecanismes que fan de la mentoria una estratègia efectiva en termes de desistiment del delicte i reintegració social i, concretament, el rol de les persones mentores en aquests processos. Per això, té com a objectius aprofundir en els models subjacents a la tasca de les persones mentores i proposar línies de millora des de la perspectiva de la gestió de conflictes. Per aconseguir-ho, s’opta per una recerca qualitativa que parteix de l'experiència de les persones mentores de joves- adults del projecte “De la presó a la comunitat”. Aquesta aproximació permet comprendre la rellevància de l’establiment de la relació entre el mentor i el jove a través de l’escolta, la importància de la gestió d’emocions negatives i l’apoderament en la construcció de la narrativa desistent així com la necessitat de treballar per una comunitat disposada a integrar de manera real i efectiva les persones que surten de presó. D'acord els resultats, el treball permet concloure la necessitat d’avançar cap a un sistema de justícia i un model d’acompanyament postpenitenciari de caire restauratiu que es centri en el rol i les necessitats de les persones que surten de presó i al mateix temps també tingui en compte la comunitat i la impliqui en aquest procés.

Encouraging processes of desistance from crime and social reintegration requires that the offender takes responsibility for his own desistance process and, at the same time, society acts to integrate him at all stages of life (Braithwaite, 1989, as cited in Cid & Larrauri, 2001, p.222). In this sense, in recent years, mentoring has been developed as an effective after-prison support strategy for young people that aims to establish a link between the prison and the community during the release. The research presented arises from the lack of knowledge about the mechanisms that make mentoring an effective strategy in terms of desistance from crime and social reintegration and, specifically, the role of mentors in these processes. Therefore, it aims to deepen the underlying models in the task of mentors and to propose lines of improvement from the perspective of conflict management. To do so, qualitative research based on the experience of mentors of young adults in the project "From prison to the community" has been developed. This approach allows us to understand the relevance of the relationship between the mentor and the mentee through listening, the importance of the management of negative emotions and the relevance of empowerment in the construction of the desistance narrative as well as the importance of getting a committed community towards the integration of the people released from prison in a real and effective way. According to the results, the research allows us to conclude the need to move towards a restorative justice system and after-prison support model that focuses on the role and needs of people released from prison and the community and involve it in this process.
