Abstract: | The trial scene in the Eumenides of Aeschylus has been interpreted as a notorious example of tragic ambiguity, where beside the joy remains the ancestral anguish. An unbiased reading of the text and a closer study of the Athenian myths and rituals helps to interpret the scene in a more appropriate manner to the cultural context of Aeschylus. |
