Abstract: The plutonic rocks of the Montnegre Massif belong to a composite batholith in which several intrusions can be recognized. The plutons range from leucogranites to ultramafic cortlandtites but the more widespread types are granodioritic and tonalitic. All the igneous rocks show a typical calc-alkaline trend and have a calcic character. The existence of andesitic and rhyolitic volcanism in the eastern and central Pyrenees suggest a possible subduction zone in this area during the Upper Carboniferous to Lower Permian.
