població i residia l’elit política i econòmica.
[eng] The period between the end of the 3rd century BC and the beginning of the 2nd century BC in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula is extraordinarily turbulent. First it was the scene of the confrontation between the Punic and Roman armies, and later it was where the first indigenous uprisings against the Romans took place. In this brief historical time archaeological research has identified transformations in many Iberian sites. Soon after many of them are violently destroyed or abandoned. In short, this is a period where the Iberian settlements of the northeast of the peninsula present changes and novelties in their urbanism and defensive systems, probably caused first by the news of the arrival of the Carthaginians from the south, and then by the landing of the Romans and his later occupation. Significantly, the settlements where these changes are detected seem to be the main nuclei, the cities, where the population was concentrated and the political and economic elite resided. First, a state of investigation is presented, an inventory of sites that present these evidence (reforms, destructions, abandonments, new foundations, etc.) between the Carthaginian arrival in the Iberian Peninsula (237 BC), the Second Punic War (218-206 BC) and the immediate Iberian revolts against Roman rule (205- 190 BC). Finally, this evidence is analyzed to value the historical context in which it occurred. |
