Central model of the study will be the osteoclast culture on dentin. Osteoclast development from monocytes will be followed biochemically and histologically. Resorptive activity and its changes will be assessed by use of the resorption pit assay. Monocytes will be treated with metal salts in vitro to mimic the situation of implant materials in vivo. Released cytokines are quantified with ELISA. Condition media from monocyte cultures will be used to treat osteoclasts to determine possible immunologically mediated effects on osteoclast resorption.eng
