In the field of medicine, radiomics is a method that extracts a large number of features from radiographic medical images using data-characterisation algorithms.These features, termed radiomic features, have the potential to uncover disease characteristics that fail to be appreciated by the naked eye. The hypothesis of radiomics is that the distinctive imaging features between disease forms may be useful for predicting prognosis and therapeutic response for various conditions, thus providing valuable information for personalized therapy. Radiomics emerged from the medical field of oncology and is the most advanced in applications within that field. However, the technique can be applied to any medical study where a disease or a condition can be imaged.
The radiome wide association study page has been designed to provide visualization tools of data from the UK Biobank database. In this web page there are three types of graph plots that give different types of information.
In the data showcase tab there is data about COV, cardiovascural magnetic resonance (CMR) and radiomics (RAD). Here, histograms with the requested data are plotted for easy understanding filtered by the age and sex of the patients.
The correlations section displays the correlation between a radiomic feature and a non-imaging phenotype, all extracted from the biobank database.
The odds plot is a section where heatmaps represent the impact of certain caracteristics on the probability of a patient suffering some diseases.
In the cardiovascular risk factors (CRF) tab a chords plot displays the association between different kwon CRFs and radiomics.
