dc.description.abstract[en] The objective of the present Project consists of the development of a RTLS web system (Real-Time Location System) for a hospital environment. The project has been carried out with the support of GRAF, the radiofrequency group of the Electronics Department of the physics Faculty of the University of Barcelona. The proposed project is the continuation of a previous final degree project in biomedical engineering entitled: On-Body RFID Solution for Hospital Patient Tracking, done by Roger Huerta I LLuch, which was also developed in the aforementioned group. It is a desk application used to provide follow-up of hospital medical personnel or patients. The new RTLS web system is based on an Apache web server and the implementation of different technologies, such as Django, MySQL and Python programming language. The users tracking system works using RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification). The RFID reader is connected to the server through Python programming language so as to be able to detect and locate the hospital users in the specific setting of ICU (Intensive Care Unit). The tracking data are stored in a data base through MySQL, whereas the user’s management is carried out with Django. The proposed system has a register and session-start method to identify the different user and assign them permits according to their role. All the users will have access to the hospital map, where they will be able to see the position of each and everyone of the registered users and their movements through the different words. Moreover, the users with the most permits will be able to register new users and assign RFID tags for their follow-up though the web page.ca
