dc.description.abstract | [eng] This research analyzes what can be expected from reading past texts and attempts to answer this question through the study of the work of Leo Strauss (1899-1973). In the course of the research, Straussian philosophy is considered as a Socratic philosophy, from which the need for political moderation and liberal education capable of forming a moderate political elite is derived. The study maintains that reading past texts and reading Strauss's work share the same value: to facilitate possibilities that were considered surpassed or that simply were forgotten. The reading of the Great Books of the past thus constitutes a liberating activity that justifies the relevance of continuing to claim the value of learning through reading. | - |
