Caracterización del paisaje del Valle de Machachi (Ecuador), y análisis de su evolución reciente (1940-2015)

Abstract

[spa] La presente tesis doctoral, “Caracterización del paisaje del Valle de Machachi (Ecuador), y análisis de su evolución reciente (1940-2015)”, se inscribe en el ámbito de la gestión territorial de zonas rurales y periurbanas, y pretende aportar una reflexión integral respecto a la dinámica y evolución del paisaje del Valle de Machachi en un período de tiempo determinado. La interacción de factores de orden natural, social, económico, demográfico, político y cultural han provocado permanentes transformaciones en el paisaje geográfico, particularmente en la dimensión ambiental y sociocultural, con una serie de efectos perjudiciales en el territorio. Esta dinámica paisajística debe ser observada integralmente por la política territorial y ambiental, a fin de efectuar una adecuada intervención territorial sostenible en el Valle de Machachi. Los nuevos espacios rurales y periurbanos pueden ser entendidos como escenarios de transición, dirigiéndose desde ámbitos tradicionales del campo, vinculadas, principalmente, con las actividades agrícolas, hacia una amplia diversificación y especialización productiva, recreativa, industrial y urbanística, creando nuevas ruralidades. En estos espacios geográficos las relaciones socioterritoriales se verán reformuladas con estas nuevas formas de intervención en territorios no urbanos. Los paisajes agrarios, periurbanos, industriales y de ocio, en permanente construcción, dan muestras de estas nuevas expresiones en lo que anteriormente formaba parte del espacio rústico del Valle de Machachi. De esta forma, evidenciamos que los cambios paisajísticos tienen una clara expresión espacio-temporal, en donde los distintos modos de vida de las sociedades rurales que poblaron y pueblan el Valle de Machachi van dejando huellas imborrables en este territorio. La presente investigación analiza la evolución del paisaje en el Valle de Machachi en un período de 75 años, efectuando tres cortes temporales, en los años: 1940, 1980 y 2015, para lo cual efectuamos una reconstrucción del medio natural y de los modelos socioterritoriales respectivos, cuya dinámica se expresa a través de los cambios de cobertura y uso del suelo, analizados a través de herramientas estadísticas y de geoprocesamiento, que nos permitirán identificar sus tendencias de cambio y el planteamiento de medidas que en el futuro puedan adoptarse en el Valle de Machachi.

[eng] This doctoral thesis, named “Characterization of the landscape of the Machachi Valley (Ecuador), and the analysis of its evolution (1940-2015)", is part of the territorial management of countries and peri-urban areas, its objective is to provide an integral reflection about the dynamics and evolution of the landscape of the Machachi Valley. The interaction of environment, social, economic, demographic, political and cultural factors have caused permanent changes in the geographical landscape, particularly in the environmental and social scenario, with some harmful effects in the territory, which must be observed by the territorial policy to make a sustainable intervention in the Machachi Valley. The new rural spaces can be understood as a moment of transition from the traditional positions of the field, which are linked mainly with agricultural and productive activities, creating new ruralities, where the rural socio-territorial relationships will be reformulated with these new forms of intervention in territories not urban. The agrarian, peri-urban, industrial and leisure landscapes are in permanent construction, they show these new expressions in what previously formed part of the rustic space of the Machachi Valley. The changes of landscape in the territory have a clear spatio-temporal expression, where the different forms of life of the rural societies that populated and populate the Machachi Valley have remained as indelible marks in the territory. The present investigation analyzes the evolution of the landscape in a lapse of 75 years, realizing three temporary cuts in the years 1940, 1980 and 2015, a reconstruction of the natural environment is made and the socio-territorial models, whose dynamics are expressed through the changes in coverage and land use, using statistical tools and geoprocessing, which allow identifying trends of change and the focus of the measures that can be adopted in the Machachi Valley in the future..
