[en] In the verses 1178‐81 of Plautus' Miles gloriosus, Palaestrio suggests that Pleusicles dresses up as a sailor in order to fool the soldier Pyrgopolinices. The aim of this article is to review the elements that make up this costume: a Macedonian‐style hat, a tunic of a strange ferruginous color and, in particular, an eyepatch of wool, the function of which necessarily awakes the curiosity and makes it subject of interest. |
