Deconstruyendo el derecho al turismo

[spa] Desde la década de los años ochenta del siglo pasado, la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT) ha ido elaborando y difundiendo un discurso que considera el turismo como un derecho. El presente texto analiza críticamente en qué se fundamenta esta idea, para después intentar escudriñar con qué objetivo se plantea. El estudio llega a la conclusión de que la consideración del turismo como derecho ayuda a legitimar la presencia de la OMT en la estructura de Naciones Unidas, así como a defender los intereses del capital turístico, a los que la organización está estrechamente vinculada. [eng] Since the 1980s, the World Tour-ism Organization (UNWTO) has been de-veloping and spreading a discourse that takes tourism to be a right. This paper criti-cally analyses the basis of this idea in order to attempt to scrutinise the aim behind it. The study reaches the conclusion that con-sidering tourism a right helps to legitimise the presence of the UNWTO within the United Nations structure and to defend the interests of tourism capital, to which the or-ganisation has close links.
