Casar-me o fugir

Abstract

[cat] El treball aborda el tema dels casaments forçats que en l’actualitat encara existeixen en algunes parts de món com per exemple a l’Aràbia Saudita. A partir del visionat del documental de TV3 30 minuts, “Fugir per viure” i de la notícia de la jove Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, que va fugir del seu país al escapar-se de la seva família, s’ha realitzat un vestit de núvia que recordi als casaments, amb paraules i frases brodades en forma d’auxili. Aquests missatges fan referència a la situació en què moltes dones es troben en països, on tenen un tutor masculí, el qual té el poder de fer el que vulgui amb la vida de les dones que li pertanyen, com si fossin un objecte, privant-les d’exercir tots els drets com a persones lliures.

[eng] The project deals with the issue of forced marriages that still exists today in some parts of the world, such as in Saudi Arabia. From the viewing of the TV3 documentary 30 minuts, “Escape to Live” and the news of the young Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, who fled her country as she got away from her family, a wedding dress has been made that reminds of weddings, with words and phrases embroidered in the form of call for help. These messages refer to the situation in which many women find themselves in their countries, where they have a male tutor, who has the power to do whatever he wants with the lives of the women he owns, as if they were an object, depriving them to enjoy all rights as free persons.
