dc.description.abstract[en] For fourteen centuries Western European astronomy was dominated by Ptolemy’s geocentric model. In 1543 Copernicus published the De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium, in which he proposed a heliocentric model. Today we know that this is the right system. The main purpose of this work will be to reflect on whether at the time of the emergence of the copernic model there were reasons to opt for this proposal.ca
