| Abstract: | The author provides evidences in favour of tbe indigenous, non Greek, character of Carian name Hekatomnos. These evidences are based on new readings of carian letters, according to the dechiffrement proposed by the author in other works. New carian epigraphic material is also adduced as proof. Nevertheless, Greek interpretations of that name are not to be judged completely wrong: the name could be reinterpreted as greek by means of Volksetymologie. |
