Brujas. Deconstruyendo mitos

Abstract

[esp] Brujas. Deconstruyendo el mito es un proyecto para una exposición temporal concebida para el Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (CCCB). A través de este proyecto, la figura de la bruja es percibida como una construcción social de naturaleza patriarcal que, desde el momento de su creación y a lo largo de los siglos, ha servido para controlar y estigmatizar a las mujeres, especialmente a aquellas que se han opuesto al orden sociocultural y económico establecido. Este proyecto aborda la herencia patriarcal en el pensamiento moderno a través del mito de la bruja, pero también va más allá y denuncia la caza de brujas actual en determinados países. Nos remontaremos a la gestación de la bruja, que dio paso a la caza de brujas, y examinaremos su recorrido hasta la actualidad. Las mujeres occidentales han heredado estigmas originados durante las persecuciones del pasado, pero también han logrado adueñarse del mito de la bruja. Los movimientos feministas se han apropiado de la bruja y le han reasignado nuevos significados para convertirla en un símbolo poderoso y reivindicativo. Paralelamente, mostraremos la caza de brujas del presente, denunciando la continuidad e incluso el incremento de estos feminicidios en países donde ser bruja es todavía una aterradora realidad que provoca la persecución y el asesinato de miles de mujeres. Nuestro proyecto es, en definitiva, una denuncia social de la desigualdad de género y de los asesinatos de mujeres tanto en el pasado como en el presente, pero es también un llamamiento al empoderamiento femenino a través de la deconstrucción del mito de la bruja.

[eng] Witches. Deconstructing the Myth is a project for a temporary exhibition conceived for the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). Through this project, the figure of the witch is perceived as a social construction of a patriarchal nature that, from the moment of its creation and throughout the centuries, has served to control and stigmatize women, especially those who have stood against the socio-cultural and economic order. This project addresses the patriarchal heritage in modern thought through the myth of the witch, but it also goes further and denounces the current witch hunt in some countries. We will go back to the formation of the witch, which gave rise to the witch hunt, and we will examine her evolution to the present day. Western women have inherited stigmas originated during the persecutions of the past, but they have also owned the myth of the witch. Feminist movements have appropriated the witch and reassigned new meanings to make her a powerful and vindictive symbol. At the same time, we will show the witch hunt of the present, denouncing the continuity and even the increase of these femicides in countries where being a witch is still a terrifying reality that causes the persecution and murder of thousands of women. Our project is, in short, a social denunciation of gender inequality and the murders perpetrated against women both in the past and in the present, but it is also a call for female empowerment through the deconstruction of the myth of the witch.
