| ca |
dc.description.abstract | [eng] Written language has always a certain degree of artifice compared to spoken language. This process is a cultural development that is commonly caused by the promotion of a political power. In the case of Mallorca, although the Catalan language had lost the political favour along the Modern Age, its model of written language was maintained quite unchanged. The present work analyses a series of five notarial documents from the first half of the 19th century to see if they adjust to the model of traditional Catalan that, with the expected changes in more than five centuries, goes back to the Middle Ages. | eng |
