[eng] Mark Fishers's intuitions about "propagating guilt" as a mode of bourgeois subjectivisation are the basis on which we problematise the ambivalences of what has come to be known as the cancel culture and political correctness. On the one hand, these speak to democratic tensions, social densities and conquered ideological frameworks; on the other, moral punitivism cannot be the driver of an empowering project because it entails closing down political identities and locking them away in the very place they are attempting to subvert. |
