Abstract: | One of the most substantial changes in Africa's political economy in the last two decades has undoubtedly been the increase of Chinese presence on the continent. This makes itself apparent at different levels: trade, investment, credits, technology transfer and also migration. This intensification runs parallel to China's spectacular economic growth, which has led to an increased presence in global markets, but it is also related to the deployment of public policies by the Beijing government, as well as the increased agency of many African governments, which see an opportunity to diversify their international economic and strategic alliances (...) |
