Las encuadernaciones nos importan: hacia una descripción catalográfica suficiente y normalizada

Abstract

[spa] La catalogación del libro antiguo en las bibliotecas presenta por lo general una ostensible laguna en cuanto a las encuadernaciones. Ante la ausencia de estándares descriptivos adecuados para este entorno, nuestro trabajo justifica la necesidad de crearlos y ofrece el primer esbozo de una herramienta que, una vez concluida y probada, se pondrá a disposición de quien la necesite. Esta se distinguirá por una atención hacia las encuadernaciones corrientes, el análisis de los aspectos estructurales y materiales, y la consolidación de la terminología empleada. [en] Cataloguing in rare book libraries often shows an outstanding gap regarding bindings. Faced with a lack of adequate standards in that field, our paper argues for the need of a guideline to help librarians in the description of bindings, and further articulates a draft resource that will be available for those who might need it once it is piloted. Its main focus will be the description of plain bindings, the analysis of the structures and materials, and the consolidation of the terminology to be used in the description of bindings.
