La plaça del Diamant: edició críticogenètica. Escriptura i estil

Abstract

[cat] El designi del present treball es funda en l’elaboració de l’edició críticogenètica i l’estudi de la història textual i de variants d’una de les obres mestres més universals de la literatura catalana del segle XX, La plaça del Diamant (1962) de Mercè Rodoreda. Atès que el lector té solament a la seva disposició un model d’edició normativitzat, s’ha imposat en primer lloc la necessitat de restituir i de fixar amb la màxima fiabilitat el text d’acord amb l’última voluntat de l’autora, és a dir, respectant la seva materialitat i especificitat històriques, mirall d’una època i d’una cultura determinades. En segon lloc, la investigació ha aspirat a reconstruir integralment el recorregut genètic de la tradició textual de la novel·la, autògrafa i impresa, interna i externa, a fi de donar compte filològic del procés de la seva concepció, de la seva composició, de la seva evolució fins a la forma definitiva i de la seva transmissió i recepció —pretensió, de fet, tota habitual en l’edició de textos contemporanis. I, per últim, el projecte pretén destapar, per via de l’acarament dels testimonis que documenten la història del text de La plaça, els bastidors del taller creatiu del gran Bildungsroman de l’autora: en concret, l’origen, els ressorts i els estilemes del seu mester d’escriptura. És, doncs, resseguint el procés creatiu a través de l’estudi de la motivació i la tipologia genètica i retòrica de les variants que emergeixen d’aquesta edició confrontada, que es pot calibrar no només la magnitud de la refecció que ateny La plaça del Diamant respecte al seu únic avanttext conservat (mcC), sinó també l’abast de la contribució crítica d’Armand Obiols i de Joan Sales al seu millorament, com, especialment, l’evolució qualitativa de la novel·la mitjançant-ne les constants poètiques i estètiques.

[eng] The purpose of the present work is based on the elaboration of the critical-genetic edition and on the study of the textual history and variants of one of the most universal masterpieces of twentieth-century Catalan literature, La plaça del Diamant (1962) by Mercè Rodoreda. Given that the reader only has at their disposal a standardised model of edition, the first priority has been to restore and fix the text as trustworthily as possible, being faithfull to the author’s last intention, that is to say, respecting its materiality and historical specificity, a mirror of a specific period and culture. Secondly, the research has aimed to reconstruct the entire genetic trajectory of the novel’s textual tradition, autographic and printed, internal and external, in order to give a philological account of the process of its conception, composition and evolution to its final form as well as its transmission and reception —a pretension that is, in fact, quite common in the edition of contemporary texts. And, finally, the project aims to unveil, through the confrontation of the testimonies that document the history of the text of La plaça del Diamant, the backstage of the creative workshop of the author's great Bildungsroman: specifically, the origin, resources and the styles of her mester of writing. It is, then, by tracing the creative process through the study of the motivation and the genetic and rhetorical typology of the variants that emerge from this synoptic edition, that it is possible to gauge not only the magnitude of the refection that La plaça del Diamant achieves with respect to its only preserved antetext (mcC), but also the extent of the critical contribution of Armand Obiols and Joan Sales to its improvement, and, especially, the qualitative evolution of the novel through its poetic and aesthetic constants.
