L’èxit de Manel és fruit del seu domini de la llengua catalana? : una anàlisi lingüística i interpretativa de les lletres de Manel

Abstract

[cat] Aquest treball de recerca és fruit del desig d’entendre què tenen les lletres de Manel per captivar la gent de la manera en què ho fan i quin paper juga el domini de la llengua catalana dels components del grup de música en el seu èxit rotund. Una anàlisi literària del primer, el tercer, i el cinquè disc del quartet barceloní permet investigar el contingut de les lletres de Manel a través d’una metodologia deductiva, fent especial èmfasi als recursos literaris emprats i conduint a la creació d’un model d’anàlisi literària propi que parteix del model canònic d’anàlisi literària i que és, per tant, aplicable a qualsevol text. Aquesta anàlisi es complementa amb una anàlisi lingüística del segon i el quart disc que, mitjançant una metodologia inductiva, aprofundeix en els recursos lingüístics més usats pel grup. Finalment, es conclou la recerca amb un projecte creatiu d’elaboració d’una cançó seguint l’estil de Manel. La investigació realitzada constata que les lletres de Manel són excepcionals perquè són prosa constant en català farcida de paraules que evoquen imatges bucòliques, de temes profunds com el fer-se gran o el deixar d’estimar, d’històries magnètiques i algunes de quotidianes, i de metàfores, personificacions i altres figures retòriques integrades amb una destresa sublim a la lírica de les cançons. El domini de la llengua és doncs un factor determinant en l’èxit de Manel, però no l’únic, ja que caldria indagar l’impacte sociocultural de la seva obra així com el llenguatge musical utilitzat per poder detallar amb rotunditat les claus de l’èxit del fenomen Manel.

[eng] The present research stems from two distinct aims: the desire to understand what makes Manel’s lyrics special as to captivate people in the way that they do, and what role the band members' high command in Catalan plays in their resounding success. A literary analysis of the Barcelona quartet’s first, third and fifth albums permits researching content of Manel’s lyrics through a deductive methodology, with special attention to the literary resources used, which lead to the creation of an instrument for literary analysis based on the canonical model of literary analysis and which is, therefore, applicable to any text. This analysis is combined with a linguistic analysis of the second and fourth albums, which, through an inductive methodology, explores the linguistic resources most frequently used by the group. Finally, the research concludes with a creative project which involves the creation of an original song following Manel’s style. The study carried out reveals that Manel’s lyrics are exceptional because they are constant prose in Catalan, full of words that evoke bucolic images, deep themes such as growing up or ceasing to love, magnetic stories and some everyday ones, and metaphors, personifications and other rhetorical figures of speech ingrained with sublime expertise into the lyrics of the songs. Mastery of the language is, therefore, a determining factor in Manel’s success, albeit not the only one, since it would be necessary to investigate the sociocultural impact of their world as well as the musical language used in order to be able to detail clearly the keys to the success of the Manel phenomenon.
