El Refugi

Abstract

[cat] Aquest projecte neix de la voluntat d'explorar la combinació de materials i tècniques i la intenció de treure el fang del taller i portar-lo a l'entom natural combinant-lo amb la fusta, inspirant-me en els refugis dels animals i les cabanes, portant-los a la meva dimensió, als meus materials i procediments, perquè em resguardin a mi igual que ho fan als habitants dels boscos. Aquí es recull el procés d'ideació i creació de la peça que conclou la línia de treball que he dut a terme durant la major part del grau. Es tracta d'una obra modular, realitzada amb una combinació de pasta refractària negra, treballada amb la tècnica de modelat constructiu, i branques de fusta entramades. Aquesta escultura, com les seves predecessores, explora el meu significat personal del concepte "refugi", com a arrelament amb l'entorn i com a espai de seguretat, a recer dels elements o perills exteriors, un resguard per al pensament i la reflexió, però també un espai d'incertesa càlida, possibilitat i descoberta. En l'aspecte tècnic, el modelat constructiu és l'eix principal d'aquesta obra. Una de les grans motivacions del meu recorregut escultòric i d'aquest treball, ha estat la investigació de les possibilitats i propietats d'aquesta tècnica de modelat. D'aquesta manera, aquesta exploració ha culminat en la combinació de materials, i en l'ús d'aquesta tècnica per a la construcció d'estructures modulars.

[eng] This project vvas born from the vvill to explore the combination betvveen materials and techniques and the intention of tafing the clay out of the vvortshop and into the natural environment by mixing it vvith vvood, taRing inspirations from the dvvellings of animals and shelters, bringing them info my dimension, vvith my materials and procedures, so they vvill shelter me as they do for their forest inhabitants. Here you find a recollection of the ideation and creation process of the piece that concludes the line of vvortç vvhich Il have been follovving for most of the degree. This is a modular piece, done vvith a combination of blach refractory clay, modelled vvith the constructive modelling technique, and entangled vvooden branches. This artvvorte, lite its predecessors, explores my personal meaning of the concept of "refuge", as the roots to your surrounding and as a safe space, sheltered from the elements and the outside dangers, a haven for thought and reflection, but also a place for vvarm uncertainty, possibility and discovery. In the technical aspect, constructive modelling is the main axis of this piece. One of the biggest motivations in my sculpture path and this project, has been the investigation of the possibilities and properties of this modelling technique. In this vvay, this exploration has culminated in the combination of materials, and the use of this technique for the construction of modular structures.
