Abstract: In this work, we study the evolution of the cosmological constant through the different cosmological models suggested since the publication of the Einstein equations for general relativity. The different physical conceptions of the cosmological constant have been analysed, as well as the relation of the cosmological constant with the vacuum energy, whose discrepancy is considered the one veritable crisis remaining in physics
