Abstract: The Canti by Leopardi already had several versions in Catalan at the end of the 19th century, but after the Great War, these translations abounded, published sporadically in several Catalan periodicals of the time. In 1928, a translation of «Le ricordanze », carried out by the Catalan poet Ricard Permanyer, was published in La Revista. From the detailed analysis of this extensive translation, we will draw several conclusions about the translation operation that Permanyer offers us, and the image of Leopardi that he transmits through the translation, contributing, in this way, to its reception in Spain.
