Aproximació al pensament teatral d’Aldo Rossi: espai escènic, arquitectura i memòria

Abstract

[cat] Aquesta investigació analitza des d’una perspectiva crítica els espais escènics i els edificis teatrals projectats per l’arquitecte italià Aldo Rossi (1931­-1997) i desglossa les reflexions que va fer al llarg de la seva trajectòria professional al voltant d’aquesta qüestió. Tot i que Rossi no descriu una teoria sistematitzada sobre el fet teatral, la present tesi doctoral pretén endreçar de manera coherent totes les aportacions portades a terme per l’arquitecte en aquest camp, tant des de la teoria com de la pràctica, per proposar una relectura de l’activitat intel·lectual i artística d'un dels principals arquitectes europeus de la segona meitat del segle XX. Observar la figura d'Aldo Rossi sota la llum dels estudis teatrals i amb els mètodes de la literatura comparada permet una nova aproximació al seu corpus escrit i projectat encara poc treballada per la historiografia i la crítica de l’arquitectura. A partir de l’anàlisi de la seva teoria arquitectònica es proposa un estudi dels seus teatres, teatrins, instal·lacions i escenografies, basat en les nocions d’analogia, memòria i autobiografia. A la vegada, es volen fer valdre, d’una banda, els diàlegs que Rossi estableix amb la filosofia, la literatura, l'art o el cinema per fonamentar una reflexió profunda sobre el fet escènic i, d’altra banda, el coneixement que demostra tenir sobre la tradició teatral i sobre la història de l'arquitectura dels teatres. En virtut d’aquestes premisses, es vol comprendre com la noció de teatralitat travessa l’obra i el pensament de Rossi per abraçar una visió de l’arquitectura i la ciutat que va més enllà de l’edifici que ha de contenir el fet escènic i que es concep a ella mateixa com a escenari i escenografia de la vida urbana, social, històrica i humana.

[eng] This research analyzes, from a critical perspective, the scenic spaces and theatrical buildings designed by the Italian architect Aldo Rossi (1931­ 1997) and dissects all the reflections he made throughout his professional career concerning this issue. Although Rossi does not describe a systematized theory on the theatrical event, this PhD thesis aims to coherently organize all the contributions made by the architect in this field, both from a theoretical standpoint and a practical standpoint, in order to propose a rereading of the intellectual and artistic activity of one of the most renowned European architects of the second half of the 20th century. Observing the figure of Aldo Rossi in the light of theatrical studies and with the methodology of comparative literature provides a new approach to his written and projected corpus that presents a perspective that is still overlooked by historiography and architectural criticism. Based on the analysis of his architectural theory, this re­ search focuses on the study of his playhouses, theatres, performance installations and scenographies through the lens of analogy, memory and autobiographical notions. At the same time, we want to emphasize, on the one hand, the dialogues that Rossi establishes with philosophy, literature, art and cinema to instil a deep reflection on the scenic reality and, on the other hand, the knowledge that he demonstrates about the theatrical tradition and the history of the architecture of theatres. By vir­ tue of these premises, we want to understand how the notion of theatricality crosses Rossi’s work and thought, to embrace a vision of architecture and the city that goes beyond the building that must contain the scenic reality and that conceives of itself as a stage and a scenography of urban, social, historical and human life.
