dc.description.abstractThis thesis presents an electromagnetic analysis of higher-order modes (HOMs) in the radiofrequency cavities for the ALBA-II upcoming upgrade. Using CST Studio Suite, simulations were performed on three different configurations of 1.5 GHz third-harmonic cavities (to be installed) and 500 MHz Dampy cavities (currently operating). A two-step approach—combining Wakefield and Eigenmode Solvers—was applied to identify resonant modes potentially affecting beam stability. Results show that all HOMs remain below impedance thresholds, except for the TM011 mode near 2.09 GHz, which slightly exceeds the longitudinal limit and needs further investigationca
