La necròpolis medieval de Sant Joan de Caselles (Canillo, Andorra)

Abstract

En el present treball s'estudia l'individu 90 (tomba 3) de la necròpolis de Sant Joan de Caselles (Canillo, Andorra). Les excavacions de 1988 localitzaren la sepultura en fossa simple, a la part sud exterior de l'església romànica, i ha estat datada entre els segles VII/VIII - XII. Els resultats de l'estudi d'antropologia física i paleopatologia conclouen que es tracta d'un individu al·lofís, d'entre 1 m 55 cm i 1m 60 cm d'alçada, amb una edat aproximada de la mort d'entre els 16 i els 20 anys. Presenta cribra orbitàlia i espina bífida oculta; i pel que fa a les miscel·lànies s'ha observat sutura metòpica i un sacre amb sis vèrtebres.// The present research consist in the study of the individual 90 (tomb 3) of the Sant Joan de Caselles necropolis (Canillo, Andorra). The excavations of 1988 found the grave in a simple pit, located at the south side exterior of the romanic church, dated between VIIth/ VIIIth century and the XIIth century. The results of the physic anthropologic and the paleopathologic studies conclude that this individual is an indeterminate sex individual, between 1m 55cm and 1m 60cm high and die approximately when it has between 16 and 20 years old. It shows cribra orbitalia and occult bifurcation spine. In relation to miscellany it has a metopical suture and a sacrum with six vertebrae.
