This is a point process which is intended to model situations where one has a set of independent random points in a space. This situation appears naturally in many circumstances and therefore, the process has been widely known for decades. Throughout the memoir, a list of the abundant applications in which the Poisson process is used is given, and some are explained in detail. In addition, using the theory explained during the thesis, the Poisson process in one dimension is also applied to try to predict the number of traffic accidents in Catalonia in a given time interval, as well as the number of associated fatalities.56 p.application/pdfengcc-by-nc-nd (c) Imma Gonzàlez Serrano, 2024http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/Corbes el·líptiquesVarietats abelianesProcessos puntualsProcessos estocàsticsTreballs de fi de grauElliptic curvesAbelian varietiesPoint processesStochastic processesBachelor's thesesThe Poisson process and some of its applicationsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess
