It aims to transform traditionally neutral or negative perceptions of science by integrating game-like elements into the curriculum, thereby making learning more engaging and interactive. This shift enhances students’ motivation and alters their perceptions towards science. Additionally, the project has secondary objectives of providing students with firsthand experience in gamification and promoting cooperative learning, which is an essential skill in the educational training provided by our university. By using the digital platform FantasyClass, the project enables students to actively participate in their educational journey through role-playing, challenges, and interactive rewards, thus transitioning from passive information reception to dynamic engagement. The project’s design follows an action-research methodology, allowing for continuous refinement of educational practices through cycles of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Results indicate significant improvements in students’ motivation and perceptions of science subjects, with a marked increase in positive attitudes and engagement. These initiatives aim not only to enrich the learning environment but also to prepare future educators to effectively use gamification in their teaching practices, addressing the emotional and perceptual challenges associated with science education and contributing to higher quality education.16 p.application/pdfspacc by-nc (c) Jiménez Valverde, Gregorio et al., 2024https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/Innovacions educativesLudificacióAprenentatge cooperatiuDidàctica de la ciènciaFormació del professoratEducational innovationsGamificationTeam learning approach in educationScience teaching methodsTeacher trainingImplementación y resultados del proyecto de innovación docente “Gamificación estructural de una asignatura de didáctica de las ciencias experimentales”info:eu-repo/semantics/bookPartinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess
