This research, however, shows that surrogacy is practiced globally due to its economic profitability and legal diversity between countries. The methodology adopted is based on a review of the international situation, with an analysis of both legal regulations and the business. The results reveal that the lack of a homogeneous legal framework favors reproductive tourism and the persistence of the practice, even where it is prohibited. It is observed that ethical factors, such as the potential exploitation of women, and economic factors, such as the high costs and benefits it implies, shape the debates and regulations on the subject.
