L'article fa una lectura geogràfica del Diari que pretén aconseguir els objectius següents: conèixer com era el mas, el territori i el paisatge de l'època (entorn, recursos, cultius, ramaderia); analitzar l'àrea d'influència de les relacions socioespacials de l'autor del Diari, així com també el seu coneixement del territori, i cartografiar els fets de guerra referits en aquest document.[eng] Used by several historians, the Diary of Joan de la Guardia, a farmer from L'Esquirol (Osona), written between 1631 and 1687 and edited by Antoni Pladevall and Antoni Simon in 1986, is a valuable document not only as a witness to the Threshers War (1640-1652), but also to discover the life of a farmer in that period.
