Después de desarrollar algunas experiencias de empoderamiento de las mujeres en las universidades y de revisar las claves del empoderamiento, se hace una relación de los discursos que doblegan y discriminan a las mujeres en el mundo universitario. Finalmente se establecen las características de cómo debería ser y qué debería contemplar un proceso de empoderamiento en la universidad. This article presents the thesis that the genesis and essence of empowerment is linked to vulnerable groups with great difficulties in the access of resources and the power and that, therefore, it seems incompatible with the university sector that represents the elite of the education system and it is also incompatible with the empowerment of women in higher education. After developing some experiences of empowering women in universities and reviewing the keys to empowerment, we made a list of the discourses that bend and discriminate against women in the university sector.
