The variation of the transition field Ht with the transition temperature Tt is discussed for fields up to 23 T for the x<0.5 range. From these data, the ratio dHt /dTt , which is related to the strength of the magnetoelastic coupling, is obtained as a function of x. We show that DS obtained from the ClausiusClapyeron equation and the Maxwell relation are equivalent for all compositions (0<x<0.5), provided the Maxwell relation is evaluated only within the transition region. The T and H dependences of DS are accounted for by modeling the T and H dependences of the magnetization outside the transition.7 p.application/pdfeng(c) The American Physical Society, 2004Propietats magnètiquesTransformacions de fase (Física estadística)EntropiaAliatgesCamps magnèticsMagnetic propertiesPhase transformations (Statistical physics)EntropyAlloysMagnetic fieldsEffect of the magnetic field on the magnetostructural phase transition in Gd5(SixGe1-x)4info:eu-repo/semantics/article514712info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess
