El solar del Palau de Belles Arts de Barcelona: transformacions històriques i projectes urbanístics de futur

[cat] A tocar del parc de la Ciutadella, trobem un solar que temps enrere va acollir el monumental Palau de Belles Arts i, més recentment, els Jutjats Municipals de Primera Instància. En una ciutat tan dinàmica com Barcelona, a vegades és necessari recordar el passat per entendre el present. Part de la nostra identitat, així com la del solar s’entén pel patrimoni urbà, ja que d’alguna manera representa la nostra cultura i la transmet. És a través d’aquest fet que volem descobrir el potencial urbanístic del solar i la història que amaguen els seus aproximadament 5.000 m2. En aquest sentit, l’estudi geogràfic que proposem a partir de l’anàlisi cartogràfica i bibliogràfica s’interessa, per una part, en les transformacions històriques i, per l’altre, en els reptes urbanístics de futur, dins un marc temporal de tres segles. En l’actualitat, aquest solar desocupat resta a l’espera d’un nou ús urbà, com altres arreu de la ciutat, però és això el que motiva a descobrir la seva evolució des del segle XVIII fins avui dia. Ens aproparem a la seva història i amb ella també a la de la ciutat. En cada moment històric atendrem a un paisatge històric urbà determinat, sovint relacionat amb les necessitats de la societat urbana de l’època, on una visió integradora de l’entorn serà essencial. Mirar més enllà del solar ens ajudarà a entendre els canvis que l’han afectat, moltes vegades per decisions que no venien del context més proper, sinó que els factors externs eren els principals responsables de la seva evolució. La incertesa, entorn el solar no ens permet saber quin serà el proper paisatge, però tenim clar que gaudirà d’un espai històric i valuós.

[eng] Next to Ciutadella Park, we find a plot of land that once housed the monumental Palace of Beaux Arts and, more recently, the Municipal Courts of First Instance. In a city as dynamic as Barcelona, it is sometimes necessary to remember the past to understand the present. Part of our identity, as well as the plot, are understood by the urban heritage, because it somehow represents and transmits our culture. It is through this fact that we want to discover the urban potential of the site and the history of its approximately 5,000 m2. In this sense, we propose a geographical study based on cartographic and bibliographic analysis is interested, on the one hand, in historical transformations and, on the other, in the urban challenges of the future, within a timeframe of three centuries. Today, this plot is waiting for a new urban use, like others throughout the city, but this is what motivates us to discover its evolution from the 18th century to the present day. We will get closer to its history and with it also to that of the city. At each historical moment, we will focus on a specific historical urban landscape, often related to the needs of the urban society of the time, where an integrative view of the environment will be essential. Looking beyond the site will help us understand the changes that have affected it, often by decisions that did not come from the nearest context, but by external factors were the main responsible in its evolution. The uncertainty surrounding the site does not allow us to know what the next landscape will be, but we are clear about it will enjoy a historic and valuable space.
