Transformaciones de las expectativas de vida de las mujeres gitanas

Abstract

(spa)La mujer gitana sufre una triple vía de exclusión: por género, por etnia y por tener un bajo nivel de estudios. En los últimos años este colectivo está viviendo una revolución silenciosa que las está ayudando a superar cada vez más estas barreras. Gracias a las interacciones entre las mujeres, se crea una red de ayuda mutua y de apoyo que está consiguiendo que muchas de estas mujeres superen obstáculos y puedan acceder tanto a estudios superiores como a mejores puestos laborales. La figura del referente es esencial ya que marca el ejemplo para otras mujeres gitanas que pueden ver que realmente sí pueden llegar a conseguir mejores condiciones de vida.

(eng)The Roma women suffers a three-way exclusion: by gender, by ethnicity and by a low level of education. In recent years, this group is undergoing a quiet revolution that is increasingly overcoming these barriers. Thanks to the interactions among women, a network of mutual aid and support is created which is helping many of these women overcome obstacles and therefore access both higher education and better job positions. The reference figure is essential as it sets the example for other Roma women who can see that in reality they can get better living conditions.
