Abstract: The influence of Italian short story writers on Cervantes's ouvre exceeds the appropriation of literary motives and plots. The narrative techniques of Italian short story collections also spur Cervantes's production. This article aims to explore the various narrative frames of Italian short story collections and evaluate Cervantes's originality in adopting and manipulating them.
