dc.description.abstract[en] The main goal of this work is to understand the best model for describing neuronal activity, the Hodgkin-Huxley model, doing simulations of it and studying simpler models that are able to display some of the Hodgkin-Huxley activity. We are going to study FitzHugh-Nagumo, Morris-Lecar and Hindmarsh-Rose model. In addition, since we want to study neuron activity via dynamical systems, we also study bursting behaviour. We want to understand how different kinds of bifurcations in dynamical systems affect neuron activity, studying the bifurcations that take part in such activity.ca
