dc.description.abstract[cat] En el següent assaig ens proposem fer un estudi de com construeix el discurs Sister, la narradora de The Carhullan Army, de Sarah Hall (2007). El gènere distòpic en el qual s’inscriu la novel·la ens ajuda a entendre el context ficcional on es desenvolupa el relat. La història es narra des del present, utilitzant la retòrica testimonial per presentar els fets. Sister està tancada en una cel·la explicant el seu passat, des d’un present que també influeix en la construcció del seu discurs. Ens proposem estudiar el text des del concepte d’autoritat narrativa i de narratari, per analitzar com l’oient del relat pot fer que aquest canviï. En canvi, fem ús del concepte d’autor implícit, per entendre com Hall construeix el discurs de Sister per amagar la seva identitat en el text. Durant tot l’assaig ens preguntarem si Sister és una narradora fidedigna, quins elements ens fan dubtar i quins corroboren la seva autoritat.ca
dc.description.abstract[eng] In the following essay we propose to make a study of how Sister, the narrator of Sarah Hall's The Carhullan Army (2007), constructs the discourse. The dystopian genre of the novel helps us understand the fictional context in which the protagonist's story unfolds. The story is told from the present, using testimony rhetoric to present the facts. Sister is locked in a cell, recounting its past, from a present which also influences her story. We also suggest studying the text from the concept of the narratee and the narrative authority, to understand how the listener of the speech can make it change. Furthermore, we use the concept of implied authorship to understand how Hall constructs Sister's discourse to conceal her presence in the text. Through the dissertation, we ask ourselves whether Sister is a trustworthy narrator, what make us doubt her, and what corroborates her authority.ca
