dc.description.abstractThe anomalous magnetic dipole moment of a lepton (𝑎ℓ) can be measured experimentally and also computed theoretically within and beyond the Standard Model. Currently, there are discrepancies between measurements and Standard Model predictions for both the electron and the muon magnetic moments. We perform an analysis of 𝑎ℓ beyond the Standard Model in terms of a low-energy effective field theory, and include the effects of effective operators of dimension five and six. A final expression for 𝑎ℓ is given that allows to interpret the discrepancy in terms of non-standard contributions to the coefficients of these effective operatorsca
