Así nos veis. La Imagen del Afrodescendiente en Hollywood

Abstract

[spa] Las instituciones culturales se conciben como espacios de conservación, exposición, producción y difusión de relatos que fomentan la interlocución entre diversos participantes. Si bien es cierto que al hacer referencia al término institución cultural lo primero que nos viene en mente es un museo, la red que configura este conjunto está formada también por bibliotecas, teatros, salas de conciertos, salas de cine, filmotecas entre otros. Las filmotecas, espacio de interés para el proyecto que se desarrollará en las siguientes líneas, se centran en la adquisición y conservación de ese material cinematográfico apartado de los circuitos comerciales. A pesar de que las filmotecas se relacionan estrechamente con salas de cine, estas instituciones cuentan a menudo con espacios expositivos que ayudan a configurar el relato. Este proyecto se presenta como una instalación para La Filmoteca de Cataluña. La sala desarrollará dos escenografías en las que se explorará la herencia de los minstrel shows en la ejecución de roles en Hollywood y pondrá en evidencia la estigmatización del afrodescendiente. Finalmente se planteará un programa de actividades dirigidas a diferentes públicos con el fin de complementar el discurso de la muestra.

[eng] Cultural institutions are conceived as spaces for conservation, exhibition, production and dissemination of stories that encourage dialogue between different participants. Although it is true that when referring to the term cultural institution, the first thing that comes to mind is a museum, the network that makes up this set is also made up of libraries, theaters, concert halls, cinemas, film libraries, among others. The filmotecas, a space of interest for the project that will be developed along the following lines, focus on the acquisition and conservation of this cinematographic material away from commercial circuits. Despite the fact that filmoteca are closely related to movie theaters, these institutions often have exhibition spaces that help shape the story. This project is presented as a temporary exhibition for La Filmoteca de Catalunya. The room will develop two sets that will explore the heritage of minstrel shows in the performance of roles in Hollywood and highlight the stigmatization of Afro-descendants. Finally, a program of activities aimed at different audiences will be proposed in order to complement the speeches of the sample.
