La Verge dels Procuradors, un altre element de la contrarevolta

Abstract

[spa] En este artículo se ponen en <luda la autoría (Joan Dessi) y la cronología (1599) tradicionalmente aceptadas para la tabla de la Verge dels Procuradors, obra hoy en día conservada en el Ayuntamiento de Tortosa. Esta se lleva a cabo por tres vías. Primera: la comparación estilística con otras obras documentadas o atribuidas a la estirpe de los Dessi. Segunda: estudio de la similitud iconográfíca de la tabla con las representaciones de la Baixada de la Cinta, tema que, según el autor, no se desarrolló antes del siglo XVII. Tercera: analísis del "contenido ético" de la obra, que ha de relacionarse con los hechos revolucionarios, y, sobretodo, contrarevolucionarios de 1640.

[eng] This essay questions both the authorship (Joan Dessi) and the dating (1599), which had traditionally been accepted, of the panet of la Verge dels Procuradors, work preserved in the Town Hali of Tortosa. This is done through three main lines. First, the stylistic comparison with other attributed or documented works by the Dessi family. Second, the study of the íconographic resemblance of this panel wich the representations of the Baixada de la Cinta, since, according to the author, this subject didn't appear before the l 71i century. Finally, the analysis of the "ethical content" of the painting, which ought to be related to the revolutionary and counter-revolutionary deeds of 1640.
