Abstract: This Open Educational Resource (OER) provides a comprehensive and accessible overview of the information-seeking process, defined as a conscious and systematic activity aimed at fulfilling an information need, whether personal, academic, or professional. The resource outlines the five main phases of the process: recognising the need for information, designing a search strategy, locating and accessing information, evaluating results, and using the information ethically and responsibly. It highlights cognitive, emotional, and contextual factors that influence how individuals search for and use information, including prior knowledge, motivation, confidence, and access to resources. The OER also presents practical examples and best practices, such as defining clear research questions, applying advanced search techniques (Boolean operators and filters), critically evaluating information sources, and managing results with bibliographic tools. Designed primarily for students and educators, this resource supports the development of information literacy and research competencies essential in higher education. It forms part of the GEDIS Project (Gender Diversity in Information Science: Challenges in Higher Education), which promotes the integration of gender and diversity perspectives into Information and Documentation studies through the creation of open educational tools and resources. #GEDIS
