Abstract
(eng) This paper is intended to explain in what way thought is impacted by postmodern values and can favor that an individual trusts and employs any (or some) alternative therapy and/or complementary to those used by conventional medicine. Using mixed methodology based on qualitative analysis of interviews to users, and a quantitative hierarchic lineal regression model, some conclusions are reached: firstly, that postmodern values are very pervasive in the way they view medicine, the body and health of alternative therapy users, and that they're depicted in a concept of holistic medicine, individualism and consumerism culture of natural products. Secondly, that these postmodern values cause, at the same time, increased dissatisfaction towards biomedicine and Public Health systems. Finally, we can assert that the trust that the Spanish people put in alternative therapies are in large part caused by ignorance about its workings and their scientific validity
