Napoleón y el mito del héroe romántico. Su proyección en España (1815-1831)

Abstract

[spa] Este trabajo estudia el desarrollo del mito de Napoleón como héroe romántico, forjado durante la Europa de la Restauración. La importancia del mismo radica en que este mito reforzó las luchas de los liberales españoles y europeos contra la Santa Alianza. Se subraya cómo el episodio de los Cien Días llevó al campo liberal a los bonapartistas y a los partidarios del culto a Napoleón. En España, los liberales, aunque siguieron criticando la invasión napoleónica de 1808, en 1821 ya habían revitalizado políticamente la figura del Emperador, antes incluso de su muerte. Después de la misma, el mito del general español Rafael del Riego se asimiló al de Napoleón y potenció el alcance que tuvo el liberalismo español en la Europa de los años veinte del siglo XIX.

[eng] This article studies the development of the myth of Napoleon as a romantic hero, forged during the time of the Restoration in Europe. The importance of this lies in the fact that the myth reinforced the struggle of the Spanish and European liberals against the Holy Alliance. The discussion emphasises how the episode of the Hundred Days took the Bonapartists and those in favour of the cult of Napoleon over to the liberal camp. Although the liberals in Spain continued to criticise the Napoleonic invasion of 1808, they had politically revitalised the figure of the Emperor in 1821, even before his death. After his demise, the myth of the Spanish general Rafael del Riego was assimilated to that of Napoleon and provided impetus to the influence obtained by Spanish liberalism in the Europe of the 1820's.
